The Choicer Voicer on Mac: No Official macOS Version

The Choicer Voicer has no macOS version — the developer's official sticky post confirms it. Windows and Linux only. MacBook users: Boot Camp, virtual machines or cloud PCs are the workarounds — test your mic first.

Official Answer: No macOS Version

The developer's official pinned post on the itch.io community (captured 2026-08-11) says it directly:

"No, there is no version for macOS at this time." — YeahMaybe, official itch.io community post (itch.io/t/6771357)

The official game page supports only Windows and Linux — there is no macOS installer. A third-party "Choicer Voicer for Mac" file is therefore not an official build. Do not run an unverified executable or provide account or payment information on a look-alike page.

Why Is There No Mac Version?

In the official devlog "Answering Recent Questions" (2026-08-04,devlog link), the developer answered a dedicated Mac question. The key points:

  • A Mac version was originally planned, but macOS exporting and signing (notarization) is extremely tedious — the developer cites Godot's official macOS export documentation to explain the difficulty.
  • Player-side friction: macOS Gatekeeper blocks unsigned / unnotarized apps, so players would need extra steps just to open the game — a poor experience.
  • The developer's bottom line: it is "more work than it's worth" (official fact baseline).

Background: the game is built with the Godot Engine (the official page also mentions Godot's audio limitations). For reference, Godot's own macOS export guide is the standard documentation — verify the developer's linked page in the devlog before citing it.

Mac Workarounds: Boot Camp, Virtual Machines, Cloud PCs

These are community workarounds — not officially supported. TCV is a microphone-first party game (hear a clip → mimic it → judges score you), so every option must be tested for mic passthrough and latency:

OptionHow it worksBest forRisks / notes
Windows dual boot (Boot Camp)Install a Windows partition on an Intel Mac and run the game natively.Intel Mac usersApple Silicon (M1–M4) Macs are not supported by Boot Camp; needs free disk space.
Virtual machine (Parallels Desktop / UTM / VMware Fusion)Run a Windows VM inside macOS.Apple Silicon and Intel MacsMic passthrough must be tested per product; performance loss; voice-game latency can suffer with long VM audio chains.
Cloud PC (e.g. Shadow PC)Full Windows cloud desktop, accessed remotely from your Mac.Users who do not want a local VMMonthly fee; network latency directly affects mic gameplay. Note: GeForce NOW only supports whitelisted games — TCV is not among them.
Wait / request a Mac versionUsers in no hurryThe developer has called a Mac port "more work than it's worth" for now.

Recommendation: before paying anything, use the freeNo Gameplay Demo 0.5.0 (mic test only, Windows/Linux desktop program) inside your chosen workaround to confirm the microphone records correctly. Then buy the full game ($5 minimum, name your own price).
